The Goddess Conference is a yearly week-long event in Glastonbury, UK. I LOVE the conference. It’s my favourite time of year. If I hadn’t found conference I wouldn’t have even close to the life I have now, so it has a special place in my heart. Each year the conference is a HUGE initiation for me and it just gets better and better.

Above - a visual flavour of Conference! Conference is colourful and bright!

Conference is for women, men, young people and children who are practising (or even just curious about) Goddess spirituality. Each year is a journey with a different aspect of Goddess – this year was with the “Moon Maiden” and next summer it's a journey with the “Sun Lover”. Each day of the week is full of inspiring talks and workshops relating to the theme, ceremonies and music, singing, celebrating and a lot of incredible togetherness with like-minded people. Each year is completely different but there is a regular pattern that follows each year. The build-up of people arriving in town from all over the world, then fringe events happen, and everyone is excited and busy preparing. Then the week begins. The conference is an emotional inner journey as well as a bright celebration. We spend time out on the land of Avalon in ceremony or having a big fire with drumming and song. The days become rapidly more intense as the week passes, with the Friday night usually an embodiment ceremony with lots of processing and deepening. The ceremonies can be life changing - they have been for me. On the Saturday everything lightens up after what might have been quite an intense ceremonial day on the friday. We come together for the masked ball and lots of dancing and fun. By the time the end of the conference comes along, on the first Sunday of August, everyone is exhausted and full of the yumminess of the memories that have been made.

When I was 16 years old I first decided to come to the Goddess Conference. It was the "Mother" year in 2012. I really didn’t know what it was, but I was invited by a friend and I thought it sounded fun. I was just a very normal teenager, pretty insecure about myself, and coming to an event full of bright and shining beautiful strong women was very......... eye opening for me! I put the Priestesses on a pedestal, amazed at how powerful these women were, and didn't believe for a second that I could ever be a strong and confident woman too. I had never had any opportunity to share in circle, do any emotional expressive work, connect to the divine, dress up and celebrate myself, partake in ceremony – or really anything else that we do in the conference. It was all so new and overwhelming and it seemed like magic to me. I cried a lot that week. Actually, I cry every conference, that's normal ;)

I kept coming back year after year, and slowly but surely my life completely changed, and I began to realise I belonged. I began to become one of those confident and strong women that I had admired just a few years before, and I realised that being a Priestess doesn’t mean life is perfect. Holding big public ceremony is nerve racking, learning and growing can be tough but is joyful too! The Goddess began to enter my whole life, not just one week of my summer. Now I celebrate Her every day but still the Conference holds a special place in my heart for where it all began.

I do tend to have people ask me why I love the conference so much, why I talk about it a lot, what is really so great about it - isn't it just a festival? For me - no!

Every year is a huge initiation into the next stage of my spiritual journey - I guess because for me the Conference was my first experience of my first experience of REAL connection, each year is a completed cycle, back to where it all started, except every year is different because change is inevitable and I have grown a little bit more each year. There is ALWAYS a challenge to overcome, whether it is a role to step into for the week or a personal challenge, and Conference has this way of just pulling you along onto a transformative journey. For me the Conference has been one of the biggest catalysts for growth.

Oh and..... most importantly, the people.... The participants, Melissa team (helpers), priestesses, artists, musicians, spa therapists, performers, and all of the people who are a part of the conference in one way or another are all SO amazing in all of their unique ways. Everyone has a place in the conference. I love you all! Without the incredible family of the conference it wouldn't be the conference. New participants are SO WELCOME. Come and see what all the fuss is about ;) I want you! <3
